Our Young People Mentoring Service in Somerset aims to address the issue of NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) among 16 to 19-year-olds by providing dedicated support and guidance. The mentoring program focuses on engaging young individuals into further education, employment, or training opportunities to equip them with the necessary skills and resources for a successful transition into adulthood.

Shane’s role as an advocate for 10 young people is instrumental in helping the young people overcome barriers and pursue their goals. By utilising flexible content from Intuitive Thinking Skills courses, he not only provides practical guidance but also inspires ambition and encourages higher expectations among the young people he mentors.

Here are some key aspects of Shane’s role and the mentoring service:

  • Tailored Support: Shane works closely with each young person to understand their individual challenges and aspirations. This personalised approach allows him to provide tailored support that addresses their specific needs and circumstances.
  • Empowerment: Through mentoring, Shane empowers young people to take ownership of their personal and professional development. By instilling a sense of ambition and self-belief, he helps them realise their potential and seize opportunities for growth.
  • Holistic Approach: Shane integrates content from Intuitive Thinking Skills courses to offer a holistic approach to mentoring. This may include modules on goal setting, resilience, communication skills, and career planning, among others, to equip young people with the skills and mindset needed for success.
  • Long-term Impact: By fostering a supportive and nurturing environment, Shane helps young people build confidence, resilience, and self-efficacy, which are invaluable assets for their future endeavours. The impact of his mentorship extends beyond immediate outcomes, contributing to the long-term well-being and success of the individuals he supports.

Overall, Shane’s dedication and commitment to mentoring young people is making a huge positive difference in their lives and contributing to the broader goals of combating NEET and promoting youth engagement in Somerset. His work exemplifies the importance of mentorship in empowering young people and enabling them to realise their full potential.

Intuitive Thinking Skills, and Shane are proud to be part of inspiring and encouraging young people to aim higher in the Somerset County, we know that supporting young people to achieve their aspirations through education, training, and employment is meaningful when delivered in the right supportive way.
